Pope John Paul II served the Roman Catholic Church for 26 years, 5 months and 17 days as the Bishop of Rome, the 263rd Successor of Saint Peter and Servant of the Servants of God.

O God, from whom the just receive an unfailing reward, grant that your servant, John Paul II, our Pope, whom you made vicar of Peter and shepherd of your Church, may rejoice for ever in the vision of your glory, for he was a faithful steward here on earth of the mysteries of your forgiveness and grace. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Eternal rest grant to him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine on him. May he rest in peace. May the soul of Karol Józef Wojtyla and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.

Sic transit gloria mundi. | So the glory of this world passes away.
